Matt Cutts: Try Something New For 30 Days

I recently came across this inspiring TED talk by Matt Cutts. Personally, I’m a big fan of TED so don’t be surprised when you see more of their guests on this blog.

Regarding this specific talk by Matt Cutts, he proposes something so simple, yet so inspiring, why not try and do something new for 30 days? Personally I decided last year to make sure I tried new things this year, so far I’ve started a pastry course one day a week and started taking taekwondo lessons two days a week. Both take more than 30 days, but I’m loving every minute of it and am eager to start something new again eventhough both take up most of my time as it is (next to work and an active social live).

Whether or not you try something more simple for the next 30 days or something more complex like me, I suggest you try it. Whether you succeed or fail in whatever it is you’re going to do, I’m sure it’ll boost your creativity and give you energy just because it takes you out of the routine day-to-day stuff.

Steve Jobs’ Inspirational Commencement Speech – Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

In light of Steve Jobs’ recent step down as CEO of Apple I looked up his Stanford Commencement Speech of 2005. The first time I ever watched this speech I thought I’d check out the first minute and fast forward, but I ended up watching and listening to Steve Jobs for the entire 14 minutes and 34 seconds. His speech was funny and inspiring.

He talks about overcoming life’s obstacles and pursuing your dreams.

The speech may be 6 years old, the lessons in it are still and will always be valid.

Will Smith: Just Decide!

Here’s an interview I came across recently with Will Smith. He’s being interviewed by Tavis Smiley and talks about I Am Legend and the fact that he is somewhat becoming a legend.

Personally I really like Will Smith, when he’s talking about his dreams and hopes you can really see he’s one inspiring dude!

I admire his work ethic, in the interview one of the things he says is that what makes him different from others, is the fact that he is willing to die on a treadmill. And that you should just decide who you want to be and work from that. As long as you know what you want, the universe will align itself to give you what you want.

I also really like his quote “If you stay ready you never have to get ready“. Basically, I just like most of what he’s saying in the interview. Just take a look yourself and be inspired!

The Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

A couple of years ago I was watching the Oprah Show and saw an amazing speech by Dr. Randy Pausch. It was a summary of the last lecture he gave at Carnegie Mellon University where he was a professor.  He gave his last lecture on 18 September 2007. His entire presentation focused on ‘ Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams’. He talked about the lessons he learned in live and he gave his students advice on how to achieve their own childhood dreams, career and personal wise.

I really like the lecutre that professor Pausch held it truly is inspiring. It makes you want to go after your childhood dreams and hit down those brick walls.

I hope you will be inspired by his words as much as I am.

For the short version that was on Oprah check out the video below.

Or if you’ve got an hour to spare (believe me, it’s worth it) check out the full lecture below.

Against All Odds You Too Can Shine!

Ever wondered if a Pantene Commercial could be inspirational? Well, here’s your answer. I came across this amazing commercial and was hooked from the start. It is a commercial from Pantene in Thailand. The commercial shows the story of a deaf and mute girl who learns to play the violin against all odds.

Okay, it’s also because of the violin, after all I did play the violin for eight years and Pachelbel’ s Canon is one of my favourite classical pieces. But besides I find the commercial truly inspiring and hope you’ll find it inspiring as well.
